Sending Emails
Once a press release or PSA (Public Service Announcement) is written about an event we send it to media outlets to be picked up for papers or news broadcasts. Here are some examples of PSA's and press releases that I have emailed out.

Mailing Copies & Messy Clips
"Messy Clips" are clips that have not been organized, copied or filed yet. They must be copied if they need to be put into multiple folders or sent to a faculty member, and filed into their appropriate folder. If they do need to be sent to a faculty member, they are addressed and put in the mail after they are copied.

Deans List
When students make the deans list a press release is sent to the hometown of the students for their accomplishments to be published in their local newspaper. We use the excel file with the students information as well as a template to write these press releases. Once the press release is finished we initial the document and turn it in to be marked for edits.

Scanning and Linking
Once articles are measured, they have to be scanned to a PDF on the computer to keep for electronic records. Then we enter the articles information into the excel and link the PDF to the article to be able to find the articles easily later.

Hometowns
When a student joins an honors society, such as Phi Kappa Phi, the PR office collects information about those students including their name, parent’s names, and activities they participate in at Salisbury University. The PR office then writes a press release for that student and sends it to both the parent’s local newspaper, as well as the parents. I was in charge of writing the press releases and then editing them after they had been checked. I had to print labels with the parents address and then keep all of the information together to be sent.
