Log :

Today I renamed and hyperlinked SU clips in the scanned clips database. Logan, who is another student worker in the office, had already entered the names and descriptions before she had left so all I had to do was finish them for her. Then I sent a press release and a PSA. I sorted messy clips, these are clips that have not yet been organized. I copied them if they needed to be filed in more than one place, or if they needed to be sent to a faculty member that may have been mentioned in the article. After that I organized national placements, which included writing the name of the article into a word document along with the date and filing it into its appropriate binder. I then linked SU clips, put the SU News into envelopes and addressed them. Afterwards I was taught how to write hometown press releases. These press releases were similar to the grad list, except they included a lot more information about the students. These press releases included the students majors, clubs and organizations the student participates in, any scholarships the student may have recieved and more.

Reflection :

Today was a pretty busy day. Sometimes having to copy the messy clips can be frustrating especially if the clip is an awkward size because the printer in the PR office can be very temperamental and frustrating. It can also be frustrating if the name is written sloppily for the faculty members we may have to send copies of clips to because then it makes it more difficult to find them in the directory and figure out who they are talking about. Luckily if I can't figure it out Megan usually can and will help me. Doing hometown press releases was difficult at first because you are only supposed to include the activities that the student participates in at Salisbury University, however there are many clubs and organizations that I may not know of. This means that I have to look up a lot of clubs and organizations to make sure that they are affiliated with the school while I write the press release, which can take up a lot more time.
